Dr. Steven Fayer is a board certified, licensed New York City Psychiatrist in private practice on the upper east side of Manhattan. He is trained in both medication management and talk therapy to treat all adult psychiatric issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, work stress and relationship issues. He approaches each patient in a holistic, caring and non-judgmental manner. He insures that his clients understand both the nature of their illness and the wide array of treatment options available. In this capacity he often works with therapists from other disciplines as part of a team approach to integrated care.
After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown Medical School, Dr. Fayer went on to complete his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Currently he is a Medical Attending at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He also supervises residents at Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai West / St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and was elected Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in 2005. Outside of his private practice, as a member of the Mount Sinai Task Force on Global Psychiatry, he has taught and worked in clinics in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Fayer has extensive experience working as a Forensic Psychiatric expert for city, county, state and federal courts in cases across the United States. He has consulted with judges, lawyers and insurance companies on a wide range of medical legal issues.
